The promotion of the entrepreneurial spirit is crucial in promoting women to create small businesses and microenterprises, thereby improving their chances of growth and economic stability to overcome poverty and vulnerability. Exchanging experiences, the signs of success stories and different entrepreneurial women along with support through professional and collaborative networks is a key factor for women to really believe in themselves, the potential of their ideas and decide to implement their entrepreneurial initiative.
Tourism is a sector that generates jobs and at the same time has the potential to boost local development. This sector is a vital source of income for developing countries and can also act as a driving force in the growth of other related economic activities,
as well as encouraging the building and improvement of public services and infrastructures. On the other hand, it is a sector that can live from the cultural and natural resources that marginalised populations already possess, and this in turn encourages development.
This project's main goal is to support the entrepreneurial initiatives of African women in the tourism sector, and more specifically in the hotel sector. To do so it will follow a range of criteria that makes sure that tourism activities maximise the potential impact on social and economic development in the region.
Training, technical assistance, access to funding, and the marketplace are the four essential cornerstones of this project.
